Aging Tiger, Kita’s Health - an Update

On August 19, 2010, the Calgary Zoo had reported that their 15 year old tiger Kita was suffering from a serious chest infection and was being watched closely by keepers and veterinarians. Since that time, animal care staff are pleased to report that she has returned to her healthy eating habits and they have seen an increase in her activity levels. It is vital that she continue to eat well, as this is how her antibiotics are administered. Animal care staff are cautiously optimistic, keeping in mind that she is old for a tiger and that often these kinds of health issues can be more serious with an aging animal.
