Encompassing almost six acres, the Dorothy Harvie Gardens are a “living library” of plant materials hardy to Calgary and the Chinook zone. For over 20 years the Dorothy Harvie Gardens have been showcasing what is possible in our challenging climate.
The gardens include collections grouped according to genus, specialty gardens, and our lush spring and summer annual displays. Plants are labeled so that visitors can take notes in this colourful classroom, and garden staff and Master Gardeners are ready and able to answer garden questions.
The gardens are open year round and it is our belief that there is never a “wrong” time to visit. There is always something in bloom throughout the growing months and the gardens have been designed to provide interesting views even throughout the winter. Whether it is to enjoy the surroundings or to be inspired for your own landscape, come and stroll through the Dorothy Harvie Gardens at the Calgary Zoo.
